The VanaBull - Coming to a Neighborhood Near You (If You're Lucky)

When you see this baby, it's pretty hard not to fall in love immediately. After all, bull horns are the epitome of automotive style. I'd seen it driving around town a few times, but I could never quite track it down to get a closer look. Alas, one fine summer Saturday my wish was granted. Would it surprise you that it was parked in the North End? Didn't think so.

Many of you might remember that Boss Hogg's Cadillac in the Dukes of Hazzard series had bull horns on it. Was that the inspiration for this young Vanagon owner? I like to think so. But you'll notice that the VanaBull's horns are much larger, no doubt signaling the exceptional virility of the owner.

I like to think that the VanaBull owner is keenly aware of the power of juxtaposing bull horns and a Volkswagon Vanagon. Part of the power of the image is that it fuses two seemingly disparate social groups: hippies and cowboys. Normally, never the twain shall meet, except when the occasional stoned hippie happens to wander into the Rocky Mountain Oyster Feed by mistake. However, with the VanaBull, the two are joined at the hip like a pair of unwashed, chap-wearin' conjoined twins. Kinda makes you think, doesn't it?

Long live the VanaBull. A finer shaggin' wagon I have yet to find. If anyone knows the owner of this awesome automobile, be sure to send me an email. I'd love to know the story behind it.
